What is interior design?

What is interior design? This is a question many people struggle to answer, but it's an incredibly important profession that has a major impact on just about everyone. Interior design is the process of creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing living space. It encompasses everything in a space, from furniture arrangement to colors and textures. Interior design is all about making spaces comfortable, attractive, efficient, and overall enjoyable.

Interior design is essential because it affects how people interact with a space. When decorating a home or workspace, an interior designer has the ability to influence how users interact with the environment. For example, if the goal for an office is for productivity levels to stay high, then an interior designer might focus on providing comfortable seating and well-positioned desks to facilitate better workflow. Creating these types of spaces also requires knowledge of materials as colors and textures can have significant impacts on overall moods and feelings as well as user focus level within any given setting.

The end result of interior design is often described in terms of aesthetic beauty or visual impact of a particular area. Interior designers take many factors into account when determining what elements will enhance any given room such as color scheme and furniture placement they are each designed with a specific purpose in mind. Often times this means creating balance between functionality (ease-of-use) and flair (design elements that evoke emotion). As such, not only do interior designers have the power to influence or entirely re-shape the look and feel of any space but they can also play an important part in its overall atmosphere and general sentiment; often times having great effects on everything from productivity level to daily positivity outlooks among its occupants.
